The sprawling premises of the resplendent metropolis Frankfurt is all set to host CPhI Worldwide 2003 and ICSE, one of the leading, yearly exhibition on pharmaceutical ingredients and allied industries, from 27 to 29 October at the venue Messe Frankfurt.
The Netherlands office of the UK based CMP Information Ltd, a division of United Business Media is the organizer of CPhI, ICSE, Hi and Fi series of pharmaceutical and food ingredient trade shows.
CPhI started in 1990 as an international convention on pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates. The first CPhI in 1990 attracted 250 visitors for 16 companies, while nowadays 20.000 industry professionals visit some 1.100 exhibiting companies from over 110 countries in the world.
In the CPhI show conducted last year in Paris 1142 companies from 112 countries participated. Around 10,096 people visi-ted the event, according to official sources. The 14th edition expects a record-breaking participation this time too.
Providing a platform for increased interaction CPhI organises business lectures alongside the exhibition. The lectures are conducted at pre and post show hours as short meetings (only 30 minutes per speaker - one hour per topic) considering the convenience of the participants.
Lectures will encompass marketing developments in the pharmaceutical industry, news on innovations, new technologies and new products.
Taking a cue from the last year, this time again Dr Peter Pollak, Fine Chemicals Business Consultant will launch the second edition of panel discussion. The topic of this year's panel discussion will be "Custom Manufacturing out, Generics in?"
In the poster session the following posters will be available for review in front of the conference rooms:
1) Deoxo-Fluor Fluorinating Reagent, Scott Medical Products
2) Technology development & new trends in formulation, Ipca Laboratories Ltd.
3)High Throughput Polymorph Screening. Solvias AG
4)Industrially relevant Diphosphines: improvements & new developments. Solvias AG
5) Q-media Kyowa Hakko Europe GmbH
6) Modern Ways in Peptide Chemistry using T3P®. Clariant GmbH
7) Application of the electronic tongue in the pharmaceutical industry: Stability, Bitterness masking. Alpha M.O.S.
8) Vitamin E TPGS as a solubilizer and absorption enhan-cer for improving bio availability of poorly absorbed Drugs. Eastman Chemical Company
9) A Novel Class of Ionic Liquids: Benzylimidazolium Salts. Chemada Fine Chemica

11) Novel production technology for biopharmaceuticals using microbial fermentation techno-logy. NIZO food research.
The poster session is free of charge and can be visited during the exhibition hours.
As a special feature to the event the BioTech Hot Spot will be present for the second time. This is a pavilion comprising companies presenting future developments in the pharmaceutical biotechnology industry. The BioTech Hot Spot will be the meeting place for biotechnology companies and business development / research managers from the pharmaceutical industry.
Also, Engelhard Corporation will be hosting an exhibitor's seminar on ``Effective Product Development and Process Optimisation in Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemicals Market on October 27.
Exhibitors at CPhI are pharmaceutical ingredients manufacturers of APIs, intermediates, excipients and other fine and speciality chemicals.
The ICSE exhibitors are basically contract service suppliers that offer the pharmaceutical industry highly specialized skills, which can help pharmaceutical companies to achieve more rapid drug development and cost-reduction in areas of contract research, biotrails, pharmacology, photobiology testing, pre-clinical, toxicology, clinical research, drug metabolism, data management, in-patient clinical research, patient safety monitoring, pharmacodynamics, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacogenetics, pharmacokinetics, project management, statistical analysis, analytical services, bio-pharmaceutical contract services, chemical synthesis/analysis, custom manufacturing, formulation development, immunochemistry, logistics and distribution, product characterization, recruitment/human resources, synthetic organic chemistry, drug discovery and also in contract manufacturing blending, filling, lyophilization, packaging, regulatory, marketing services, data services, E-business, computer software, consulting services etc.
Visitor profile include executives from research & development, purchasing, engineering, production, quality control and general management, original molecule designers, generic producers, me-too producers, OTC producers, intermediates producers, custom synthesis producers, cosmetic producers, engineering companies, research institutions, regulatory institutions, government, educational institutions.
